Technology

The UNIBEST product is a cherry-tomato sized capsule, filled with unique resin beads.  The technology has changed the way soils , water, and other media are analyzed because it allows direct measurements in the field, reducing the amount of material transported and handled in the laboratory. It simplifies and improves data collection for agricultural, environmental, home & garden, and turf care efforts in soils, water, or other media.

UNIBEST replaces archaic soil testing methods and simplifies environmental testing. The UNIBEST resin-filled mesh capsule "adsorbs" nutrients, chemicals, or organic substances and reveals nutrient dynamics and bio-availability. UNIBEST has selected a specific mix of adsorbing resins to effectively mimic the plant's root system and adsorb nutrients that are available to the plant. This "bio-availability" of nutrients is independent of soil type and is effective in soils worldwide.  All of the critical nutrients for plant nutrition are absorbed in one capsule. The same principles of ion exchange are applied to environmental monitoring applications where organic and inorganic chemicals can be identified and measured.  In either application, once the nutrients/chemicals are adsorbed, these elements remain in the capsule until they are analyzed in a laboratory.

UNIBEST has developed standard procedures for worldwide agricultural and environmental markets.  The technology and its procedures are protected by United States patent (5,355,736) and Canadian patent (2,087,153).

Laboratory Assistance
UNIBEST has developed analytical protocols for laboratories and the company will provide these proven protocols to laboratories requiring assistance.

How UNIBEST has a Competitive Advantage...Water Table

UNIBEST has several advantages over potential competition:

  1. 1) Improved data reliability provides accurate bio-availability predictions of nutrients within the root zone of a targeted crop, chemicals leaching below the root zone, or migration of a contaminant.
  2. 2) Proven ion exchange resins and state-of-the-art analytical equipment is superior to existing technology and results in increased data credibility.
  3. 3) Development of a proprietary analytical agricultural baseline allows field technicians and property managers to convert to new methods and gain confidence in results.
  4. 4) Technology minimizes waste handling by eliminating the need for collecting repetitive large amounts of soil, water, or other media.
  5. 5) Operating methods result in reduced field time and higher ease of handling for the customer.
  6. 6) Staff understands the capabilities of a broad array of resins available on the market and can provide expertise to interpret data and ensure that statistical models are used correctly.
  7. 7) A full service, in-house laboratory contributes to significantly lower costs than traditional testing methods.
